specs, rate and where it runs

What it is good at

  • Lowest image rate here
  • Very fast

What it costs here

1 credit per image.

Where it falls short

  • Lower detail than FLUX 2

Small graphics where detail does not matter

Its sweet spot is output that is viewed small. AI Sticker Generator (Cute cat, Coffee cup, Retro badge, Plant buddy, Pixel heart) runs on it. So does AI Emoji Generator (Laughing face, Party dog, Rocket, Coffee zzz). Pixel Art Generator (RPG hero, Retro city, Item icons, Cozy room, Forest tileset) uses it too. Lower detail barely shows at icon size.

AI Avatar Generator and AI Image Generator also use it. None of these tools take an upload when they run on schnell; everything starts from your text.

Using it as a prompt test bench

A run here costs very little. That makes schnell the place to find out whether a prompt idea works at all. Run "isometric tiny bakery on a floating island, pastel colors, soft clay render" a few times. Tweak the wording, and only move the winner to a heavier model.

Set the ratio first. It offers 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16, so test in the shape you plan to publish. Use 9:16 for a phone wallpaper, 16:9 for a slide background and 1:1 for a sticker sheet.

Where it runs out of detail

Detail is lower than in FLUX 2. Hands, small text and busy textures are the first to suffer. If a draft looks right but soft, the composition is the part worth keeping.

When you need the classic community prompt behavior, FLUX.1 dev costs 5 credits. Once it opens, FLUX 2 Klein drafts in the FLUX 2 look for 4 credits. Qwen Image offers strong prompt following at 4 credits.

The arithmetic of a 1 credit model

One image is 1 credit, about $0.01 on the best pack. Ten separate runs cost 10 credits, roughly $0.11. It ranks 1st from the cheapest of 41 image models. The most expensive one costs 38 credits per image, so schnell is where you experiment freely.

Questions about FLUX schnell

Is FLUX schnell good enough for stickers and emoji?

Yes, that is where it fits best. At small display sizes its lower detail is hard to notice. The 1 credit rate also makes many variations cheap.

Can I upload a photo to FLUX schnell?

No. It reads a text prompt and an aspect ratio only. Use a FLUX 2 [max] or FLUX Kontext tool when you need to start from a photo.

Which aspect ratios does FLUX schnell support?

1:1, 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16. Pick the one matching where the image will be used before generating.
