Grok Imagine is xAI's video model for short clips up to 12 seconds. Durations are 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 seconds, at two resolutions, 480p and 720p. Pricing is per second, so a short clip costs proportionally less. On Ugesi it reads a text prompt, the duration and the resolution.

Where it runs

It runs in AI Video Generator, which has text-only presets. Choose from Drone reveal, Product turn, Street at night, Talking to camera, Slow push in and Cinematic build. That tool takes no upload, so image-led work needs another route.

Try this prompt, sized for its short clips. "Slow push in on a ramen bowl on a wooden counter, steam rising. Warm practical light, shallow depth of field, 6 seconds." Short clips reward one camera move and one subject, not a sequence of events.

Living with 480p and 720p

The listed limit is no 1080p. Use 480p for drafts and storyboards, and 720p for social posts where the clip is watched on a phone. If you need a sharper master, plan an upscale step. Another option is a model that renders at a higher resolution from the start.

Other options for quick clips

Seedance 2.0 Fast (legacy), at 18 credits per second, is listed for iteration when waiting time matters. Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash costs 18 credits per second at 720p. It adds native audio on every clip and can start from your image. However, it caps at 10 seconds and carries a SynthID watermark. The 720p rate is 11 credits per second. A 4-second clip is 44 credits, about $0.47 at the best pack. A 6-second clip is 66 credits ($0.70), and 8 seconds is 88 credits ($0.94). A 10-second clip is 110 credits ($1.17), and the full 12 seconds is 132 credits ($1.40). 480p costs 8 credits per second. Draft at 4 seconds and extend only the shots that work.
