What FLUX schnell is
FLUX schnell is the speed-tuned member of the FLUX.1 family from Black Forest Labs. It was distilled to produce an image in one to four sampling steps instead of dozens. That is why results come back in seconds. The trade-off is fine detail: textures, hands and small text come out rougher than in FLUX 2.
Draft cheap, finish in a bigger model
At 1 credit per image, you can try ten wordings of the same idea. All ten cost less than one run of a premium model. Keep the prompt that gives the best composition. Then run it once in FLUX 2 [max] or GPT Image 2 for the final. The links to other models in the form open their pages with your prompt filled in.
Where it falls short
Legible text inside the image, logos and exact product shapes are not its strength. Neither are crowded scenes with many named objects. For those, pick a model built for typography or product work before you spend a series of runs.
Prompts that work
Short, concrete prompts do best: one subject, the setting, the light and a style, in that order. For example: a ceramic coffee cup on a wooden table, morning window light, soft shadows, editorial photo. Every extra clause is one more thing a fast model can drop.
Running a batch of drafts in this form
Test one variable per run. Keep the subject fixed and change only the light, then only the camera angle, then only the palette. That shows which word moved the result. Note your favorite version before changing the next word, so the final prompt collects only what worked. Start a sequence with "red bicycle against a white wall, noon sun". Then try "red bicycle against a white wall, blue hour, street lamp". The Isometric room and Flat illustration presets also suit it. Simple shapes and flat color hide the lower detail better than close-up skin does.
Formats and the hand-off to a bigger model
The form offers Square 1:1, Portrait 4:5, Landscape 16:9 and Portrait 9:16. FLUX 2 [max] and Nano Banana Pro have the same four, so a draft framed here carries over unchanged. At 1 credit per image, sixteen drafts cost the same as one FLUX 2 [max] image. Hand off by job: FLUX 2 [max] at 16 for a photoreal final. Use GPT Image 2 or Seedream 5.0 Pro at 14 for anything with words. Recraft V3 at 6 handles flat graphics and icons with lettering. Pick Nano Banana Pro at 38 when the image will be viewed large.
Frequently asked questions
How much does one image with FLUX schnell cost here?
1 credit per image, about $0.011 on the largest pack. The exact price shows above the button before you generate.
Why is FLUX schnell faster than other image models?
It is a distilled model. Instead of refining an image over many steps, it was trained to get there in a few. The wait is usually a matter of seconds.
Which formats can I pick for FLUX schnell here?
1:1, 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16. Choose the one you will publish in. The draft is meant to be rerun in a larger model with the same frame.
When should I switch to FLUX 2?
When the image will be used as it is: a product shot, a key visual, anything with text. FLUX 2 renders more detail and steadier text, at a higher rate per image.
