The point of Nano Banana 2 is realism you can afford to repeat. Catalog lifestyle shots, a dozen variations of a social ad and realistic scenes for a blog series fit here. Every frame needs to pass as a photo, but no single frame justifies the top rate.

Unlike the entry model, it reads more than a prompt. It also takes a reference image, a resolution setting and an aspect ratio. You can guide the result from a photo and frame it for the place it will be published.

Tools that run on it

Nano Banana 2 runs in AI Image Generator and AI Image Editor, and it powers two photo tools. AI Haircut takes a photo of a person and shows them with a new cut. Rizz AI also starts from an uploaded photo. Neither has presets, so the photo you upload and the instruction you type decide the result.

For both, use a sharp, evenly lit face shot looking roughly at the camera. Heavy shadows, sunglasses or hands near the face give the engine less to work with.

Prompts that play to its realism

Describe a scene the way a photographer would set it up. Try "Young man reading on a tram at rush hour, window light from the left. Shallow depth of field, candid, muted city colors." Lens and lighting words do more here than adjectives like "beautiful".

With a reference image attached, say what must stay and what changes. For example: "Keep this kitchen and the person's face, change the season outside the window to autumn."

Less fine texture than Pro: when it matters

The difference from Nano Banana Pro shows in close-ups: pores, fabric weave, hair strands and skin in hard light. At feed size most viewers will not notice. In a full-screen hero or a tight beauty crop, they might.

A sensible split is to generate the set on Nano Banana 2 and pick the strongest frame. Then re-run only that one on Pro at 38 credits.

Rates against the alternatives

This is one of the pricier image models: 39th from the cheapest of 41. FLUX 2 [max] at 16 credits is a photoreal default with good value. It is worth trying first for everyday iteration. GPT Image 2 (medium) at 14 credits wins when the image contains text. It is not the most photoreal option, though.

One image here costs 26 credits, about $0.28 at the best pack rate. Ten separate runs come to 260 credits, roughly $2.77.
