How to use AI Relight

  1. Upload a well-exposed photo

Add it under Your image: JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB. A sharp photo with a clearly separated subject relights best. Pure black or blown-out white areas hold no detail, so the new light has to invent it there.

  2. Choose or describe the light

Pick a Style preset such as Golden hour or Window light. Or write your own in "Describe the lighting": direction, color and softness. For example: "warm low sun from the left, long soft shadows". Name what must stay, like the face or the product.

  3. Pick a model

Choose one under Model. The models differ: one suits small, targeted changes of light and color, others give more photoreal skin and texture. If the light changes but the subject shifts, try the same description on another model.

  4. Check shadows and skin, then adjust

Press "Relight photo" and check that shadows fall away from the new light source. Faces and skin tones should still match the original. If the effect is too strong, ask for softer light. Fine-tune the color afterwards in a grading step.

Choosing between the models on this page

FLUX Kontext: Cheap targeted edits like color, light and small fixes. Instruction-based editing. Watch out for: large structural edits work better on GPT Image 2.

GPT Image 2 (medium): Posters, menus, interfaces and any image with readable text. Typography that stays readable at small sizes. Watch out for: not the most photoreal option.

GPT Image 2.5: Edits and product shots where the subject must stay recognizable. Sharper detail and more natural light. Watch out for: small, dense text can still break.

Nano Banana Pro: Hero images where realism decides the result. Photoreal skin and texture. Watch out for: higher rate than everyday image models.

Light is the one thing you cannot fix later

That used to be true. Relighting rebuilds how the scene is lit while keeping the subject, pose and framing.

What the presets cover

Golden hour, overcast, neon, window light, studio key and candlelight. Six looks that cover most briefs. Each preset replaces the text box with a full lighting description you can edit.

Relight, then grade

Lighting sets the shape. Color sets the mood. Run the relight first, then send it to color grading.

Frequently asked questions

Will the face change?

The instruction targets lighting only, so identity and pose are usually kept. Check the face on a close crop.

Does it work on products?

Yes. Product shots respond very well because surfaces and reflections are rebuilt with the new light.

Can I leave the text box empty?

No. Pick a preset or describe the light yourself; an empty box is not accepted.

What does Nano Banana Pro cost here?

38 credits per image. The exact total appears above the button before you generate.
